Baby see, baby do!

It's been ages since I sat down to write on my blog, I don't take time to do it at work because it will be too rushed if I want to finish it and at home I don't like going on the computer because Kayla is always climbing on me to see music or just fiddle around on the keyboard and with the mouse. I decided to take some time now, December 23rd, Kayla's sleeping and I've just finished washing all the dishes there were and putting the presents under the Christmas tree.

A lot happens with Kayla's development everyday, like I've written a few times that she does and says something different everyday, now the older she gets, the more she'll learn in one day and she's a very quick learner!

She's speaking sentences now and even singing pieces of songs or we will sing children's songs and let her finish a sentence, it's so cute. A chorus of a song she tries to sing alone is Akon's "Lonely", she's always loved that song and it's so cute to hear her. She also likes dancing and will even dance without music.

She's got a great imagination too!!! She pretends to eat imaginary food, it really looks like she's eating, in the beginning we even thought she'd put something in her mouth, so now we have to be careful not to think she's playing if she'd really put something she shouldn't in her mouth. When she plays like this we ask her what she's eating and she'll say maybe potato or popcorn or something else, it's so cute! She'll pretend to drink from a closed cool drink or water bottle and gets upset of we open it for her. She pretends to give her dolls or bears food too, sometimes she pretends to feed them her food or a biscuit or even her bottle.

She likes other children and babies, but sometimes when she's been playing with them for a while she gets a bit pushy, or if they have a toy she wants she'll get greedy, I suppose this is "normal" seeing as she doesn't always have children her age to play with. It would be great if she could go to day-care two or three times a week just so she can socialize with children her own age, but I don't think that's possible in Madeira...

She's been sleeping ok most nights, there might be a night here and there that she'll wake up crying, sometimes she just moans and goes back to sleep, but other times she won't stop until I go comfort her. She has a few toys in her cot to sleep with her, the one that's almost always there is my little Garfield, then there are others too and her blanket is also a comfort for her.

I know it's time now for her to learn to potty, I've tried, but she refuses to sit on a potty or on a adapted seat on the toilet, it's something that needs time and patience, and after a long day it's not easy being patient.

Her hair is growing so nicely, it's got a bit of a curl at the ends and it's getting lighter, we haven't cut it because I think it looks so nice. She's also grown so much, thinking back to when she was so tiny makes me feel it was so very long ago! Also looking at her, seeing the things she does and hearing the things she says, I can't believe she's only a year and a half old. I don't know what other babies her age are like, but I think she's so smart, so intelligent! I think most parents think their children are!

Things are going really well, there are times I would like to have more patience, because when Kayla's tired she gets very grumpy, but she's doing great! She's usually very well behaved when we go to the supermarket, seeing as we have one close by, I sometimes go buy something alone with her, and she helps me push the trolley-basket thing, sometimes something will call her attention and she'll be off, but when I take her away from it she doesn't make a fuss, I don't know if this well behaving will last, but I cherish the moments while it does last. I had a little adventure with her the one Saturday, a few weeks ago, we went buy bus to the centre because I had a few things I wanted to take care of and seeing as she loves travelling in the bus I thought it would be a good idea. We had a very nice day, just the two of us, up and down on the bus and she didn't misbehave, it was great!

I think she's also a very adventurous child, I think the main reason for her being like this is because she's very inquisitive and wants to see everything, touch everything, grab everything! She's had a few falls off chairs, a few bonks on the head and a few scrapes on her knees and hands, but that doesn't stop her!

She loves scribbling on paper, and walls, chairs, tables... anything she can get her pen or pencil to! She usually asks us to draw something, an owl, a flower...

I think I'm going to end off now, I've had a long day and I have a long day ahead. I hope Kayla enjoys her Christmas, she didn't have much of a clue last year, she was only 6 months old and she didn't understand what was going on and what exactly presents were. She's a year and a half now and I'm so sure she's going to open her presents and want to open everyone else’s too!

Why is the saying "monkey see, monkey do" and not "baby see, baby do"??
